@TylerWong65 Got to STL race for first time ever. Been to 30 500’s and never seen them anywhere else. We also have pit passes, which will be a new experience.
Two schools that are less than a mile from each other tried to move a regional championship game to their town. But the game remains 1 1/2 hours away because the refs don’t want to change it.
But it’s about what’s best for kids, right @IHSA_IL ?
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL Semantics. There is a policy and procedure for changing sites.
An action item to the benefit of adults stopped what was better for kids playing.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL It happens in multiple sports a year. Multiple games in the same sectional are hosted at alternate sites due to proximity and travel. All other regionals have the host in the final in this situation. Look at southern 3/4a brackets for most sports.
This is not new.
@Newstart1962@IHSA_IL 100%, but again, this is two schools divided by .7 miles. The host already got enormous advantages over every other team by hosting teams a minimum of 1 1/2 hours away.
This is a solvable situation. Not an uncountable geography problem.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL I think you’ve lost the point. All of those procedures already exist. A school didn’t say no here, refs did. That is not what is best for kids in this situation.
You made huge assumptions this wasn’t previously discussed. Multiple games in the same sectional have been moved.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL The situation you are describing is this exact host.
Teams playing at this site:
Host team, 1 1/2 hour drive, 1 1/2 hour drive, 2 hour drive, 2+ hour drive.
So I assume you think they shouldn’t have hosted?
Also, the thing about emergencies is, they aren’t planned.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL Then in a different situation I would not switch it, because that situation is in fact DIFFERENT……..I’m so confused what points you are trying to make.
This isn’t something new either. Look at other regional games played at alternate sites, it’s happening other places.
@Newstart1962@IHSA_IL It does to an extent, but also could benefit them. Would be curious true numbers. Also, they were okay with this.
Don’t know the ins and outs, but would probably sell 150+ more tickets at new site that could still go to host. Burden of pay moves to someone else.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL Yes and I understand there has to be policy and procedure. Again, this proves nothing.
But I’ll just go back to the heart of my original post then.
Is that process what’s best for kids?
Is sticking to a process that can be adjusted and isn’t, the better option?
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL It would have been best for the kids of the host two months ago, even earlier this week. But when they lost that changed. Not that far-fetched of a thought. Especially considering other games were changed when matchups were announced.
@SchultzieXC@udbrky@IHSA_IL You prove nothing here. In fact, you help support me. It’s never about what’s best for kids.
I’ll settle on responding to one point:
Did we know the two teams months ago?
