A few months ago, I was down in 𝗞𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 meeting with several military commanders and the regional military governor.

As we walked out of the building, the first thing we heard was the unmistakable buzz of 𝗙𝗣𝗩 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 overhead. One to the left. One to the right. We immediately took cover. I remember looking at my driver and saying, "𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀. 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼."

When there was finally a break, we ran to the vehicle, rolled the windows down so we could hear the drones better, and got out of there as fast as we could.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻.

You're constantly 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, constantly 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀��𝘆, and constantly wondering if the 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

What stayed with me wasn't just the drones. It was the feeling. You don't simply feel like you're in a war zone.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱.

What struck me even more was watching the civilians.

They walked the streets, went to the market, carried groceries, and looked after their families, not because they weren't afraid, but because they had been 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁 to a reality no one should ever have to accept. The courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people is something I will never forget.

The translators and local residents shared story after story. Elderly women walking to buy bread. Families collecting water. Parents trying to get their children home safely. Ordinary people simply trying to survive another day.

Then suddenly an 𝗙𝗣𝗩 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 appears overhead.

Or a 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗲 is dropped from the sky.

These weren't 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀.

They were 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, and 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻.

The regional military governor even presented me with a recovered Russian 𝗙𝗣𝗩 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 that had failed to detonate. It sits in my office today as a constant reminder of what the people of 𝗞𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 face 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆.

That's why your article resonated with me so deeply.

These are 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. They are 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. This is a 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀.

People are being hunted simply because they live on the wrong side of the 𝗗𝗻𝗶𝗽𝗿𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿. What I witnessed in Kherson wasn't just a battlefield. It was 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝘆.

Perhaps the saddest part is how quickly much of the world has become accustomed to it. 𝗡𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 ��𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹.

If we stop being outraged when civilians are 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱, we've already lost something far greater than a battle.

𝗪𝗲'𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

These attacks are 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀. They deserve 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲. They deserve 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. And they deserve the attention of the 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱.

On the night of July 3, operators of the 413th USF «Raid» Regiment carried out drone strikes on electrical substations near the cities of Bilohirsk and Staryi Krym in occupied Crimea:

• 110/35/10 kV «Bilohirsk» substation – destroyed
• 110/35/10 kV «Staryi Krym» substation – destroyed

The occupiers use these electrical substations and other components of Crimea's energy grid primarily to power military facilities.

This was notably acknowledged by the so-called «head» of Crimea, Aksyonov, who stated that the main reason for problems with the «fair distribution of electricity» is the «factor of countering the enemy and the technical condition of individual substations». Translated from «newspeak»: he confirmed that the Russians are using these substations to counter the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

I had a very substantive conversation with the Prime Minister @MinPres. I am grateful for the readiness to continue supporting our country.

I briefed the Prime Minister on the aftermath of Russia’s latest attacks. Today, the rubble clearance operation after the attack overnight into Thursday was completed in Kyiv. That terrorist strike alone claimed the lives of 30 people. My condolences to all the families and loved ones of the victims. It is important that our friends – Ukraine’s friends – are ready to take action to protect lives, and air defense remains one of the key areas of our cooperation with the Netherlands.

Today, I also want to thank the Netherlands for its historic decision to host the fully-fledged Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. This decision will make it possible to hold Russia’s highest political and military leadership accountable for the crime of aggression itself, not only for its consequences.

We also agreed on the schedule of our next meetings. I thank the Netherlands for its solidarity and support.
