@EpsomCollegeUK As a former colleague of Emma, I am deeply saddened by this tragic news. My thoughts are with the family, friends and wider school community @EpsomCollegeUK. Here at BMS we send our condolences and support.
Staff and students came together this morning to sit for a whole school photograph, the first since the pandemic. With so many involved it is a feat to coordinate, but it was super to see everyone from the youngest to the oldest in one place. BMS organisation at its very best!
Tonight we welcome students, staff and special guests to our Academic Awards evening where we celebrate outstanding achievement across all subjects. OBM Emma Reece, Head of Political Affairs at the UK Committee for @UNICEF_uk joins us to present prizes to our deserving students.
Fantastic afternoon of senior rugby. Exciting, close games, and I am really proud of all the boys. The future looks good! Thanks to all staff, students and parents. @BedfordModern@BMS_SP0RT
It has been a pleasure to welcome our new Year 7. They are impressing us all and not too many are getting lost finding their classrooms! Well done Year 7! @BedfordModern
Our Year 7 students spent today's tutorial enjoying teamwork-based activities. They had great fun crossing the swamp’, traversing imaginary waters by working together and stepping only inside of hoops, and building the strongest structures they could out of spaghetti.
Today we celebrated again as students received outstanding #GCSEresults. Better than last year’s teacher-assessed grades, there was a marked increase in the top grades awarded with 53% ranked 9-8, equivalent to an old A*, and 30% at grade 9. Read more: https://t.co/SyKQ7CgXcV.
Many happy faces heading off to their next adventure. I am delighted that all their hard work has been recognised. Thanks to all staff who supported the journey! @BedfordModern
Staff and students celebrated an outstanding set of A Level results today. 69% of grades awarded were A*/A, 90% of grades ranked A*-B and 22 students received three A*s or more. Huge congratulations to everyone. #AlevelResultsDay2022#proudofyou Read more: https://t.co/5TdMpiEG36
Mr Hussain’s Year 8 Maths students carried out a statistical investigation last week, testing whether teachers drive ‘old bangers’! Using the year of manufacture for cars parked at BMS vs those driving past they concluded that the mean registration for both sets of data was 2015.
BMS hosted the Bradbury Cup this afternoon. A cup that is celebrating its 40th year being held at BMS. Well done to our U13 team being the overall winners beating Northampton and Hitchin. Thank you to OBM @Bullers2010 for refereeing and Tim Bradbury for presenting.
Congratulations to our U14s who won the County Cup this evening after a great contest vs @BedfordSchool. Well done for finishing the season on a high. #TeamBMS
BMS cadets Rufus and Arthur teamed up with cadets from @SedberghSchool to place first in the @RoyalNavy CCF Endurance Race. They sailed for 30 miles against four other teams, finishing two laps ahead of their closest rivals. They also achieved fastest lap and furthest distance.
Year 8 student Louie has recently become the youngest person ever to be awarded Clubman of the Year by @olneyrfc whilst his sister, Year 10 student Hattie, was named Clubman for the U16 Girls section of the club. Well done to both of them for their hard work and diligence.
We held a send-off today for our Year 11 students, who gathered to pick up their leavers’ hoodies and watch their end of year assembly. They have conducted themselves excellently throughout their exam period and we wish them every continuing success for the future.
The Bedford Modern Singers will hold their summer concert on Wednesday 29 June. This informal, friendly choir is made up of OBMs, staff and parents who meet weekly in term time. Everyone is welcome to join, so come along to the concert to find out more if you are interested.
When the BMS Parents’ Association organise an event they do it in style! The fabulous PA ball this evening @Bedfordcornexch was a sellout and for good reason. Huge thanks to the organisers for their hard work and to all the guests for making it a night to remember. #bmscommunity
The annual House Water Sports event at @BoxEndPark yesterday saw more than 200 students in Years 7 and above take to the water to conquer the Aqua Park, compete in the paddleboard relay or climb their way across the mighty ninja course! What a great way to spend a sunny evening.
The Diamond Jubilee 4x has pre-qualified into Henley Royal Regatta and starts their campaign on Tuesday 28th. Our Princess Elizabeth 8+ will attend the qualifying event on Friday as they race for their spot in the regatta. #TeamBMS
