In "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Charlie Brown says…

"I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy. I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel."

Later, Linus quotes Luke 2:8-14 from the King James Bible and it is so powerful and beautiful…

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men."

And then he drops this powerful truth…

"That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

When Linus starts telling Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about from Luke 2, he is holding his blanket. When he says the words "fear not" he tosses his blanket aside and finishes quoting Scripture. Linus shows that true security can be found in Christ.

The powerful and iconic scene was not liked by the network for being too religious. They wanted to remove it, but Charles Schulz held firm to his insistence that the scene remain because it was essential to what the true meaning of Christmas is all about.

I am thankful for Schulz's insistence. I couldn't even imagine not having this powerful scene.

BREAKING: Kennedy family member Maria Shriver incinerates the Republican plan to rename the prestigious Kennedy Center to the "Trump Center for the Performing arts," calling it "petty" and "small-minded."

America's real royalty aren't taking this sacrilege lying down...

“This is insane. It makes my blood boil. It’s so ridiculous, so petty, so small-minded,” Shriver, the former First Lady of California, wrote on X. She is the daughter of Eunice Kennedy, who was the sister of JFK and RFK.

"Truly, what is this about? It’s always about something. ‘Let’s get rid of the Rose Garden. Let’s rename the Kennedy Center.’ What’s next?" she added.

Earlier this month, Congressman Bob Onder introduced a bill to "designate the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as the ‘Donald J. Trump Center for the Performing Arts." That measure is in addition to one that was introduced to name the center's famed opera center after Melania Trump.

"I cannot think of a more ubiquitous symbol of American exceptionalism in the arts, entertainment, and popular culture at large than President Trump," Onder said in a truly pathetic statment. These Republicans are so desperate to ingratiate themselves to Trump that they're willing to tear up this country's history by its roots.

Trump announced in February that he would be paving over the White House Rose Garden — which was famously redesigned under JFK's administration — to create a patio similar to the hideous one he has down at Mar-a-Lago.

JFK's only grandson Jack Schlossberg previously attacked Republicans for trying to rename the Kennedy's Center's Opera House after First Lady Melania Trump, stating that Trump is "obsessed with being bigger than JFK" and "minimizing the many heroes of our past, as if that elevates him."

"The Trump Administration stands for freedom of oppression, not expression. He uses his awesome powers to suppress free expression and instill fear. But this isn’t about the arts," he added.

Donald Trump is, by just about every metric, the worst president in American history. We cannot allow him to slap his disgraced name all over this country's institutions as if America were some cheap, dilapidated casino. Make your voice heard now!

Why did God create evil? A professor at the university asked his students the following question:
- Everything that exists was created by God?
One student bravely answered:
- Yes, created by God.
- Did God create everything? - a professor asked.
“Yes, sir,” replied the student.
The professor asked :
- If God created everything, then God created evil, since it exists. And according to the principle that our deeds define ourselves, then God is evil.
The student became silent after hearing such an answer. The professor was very pleased with himself. He boasted to students for proving once again that faith in God is a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said:
- Can I ask you a question, professor?
"Of course," replied the professor.
A student got up and asked:
- Professor, is cold a thing?
- What kind of question? Of course it exists. Have you ever been cold?
Students laughed at the young man's question. The young man answered:
- Actually, sir, cold doesn't exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is actually the absence of heat. A person or object can be studied on whether it has or transmits energy.
Absolute zero (-460 degrees Fahrenheit) is a complete absence of heat. All matter becomes inert and unable to react at this temperature. Cold does not exist. We created this word to describe what we feel in the absence of heat.
A student continued:
- Professor, does darkness exist?
— Of course it exists.
- You're wrong again, sir. Darkness also does not exist. Darkness is actually the absence of light. We can study the light but not the darkness. We can use Newton's prism to spread white light across multiple colors and explore the different wavelengths of each color. You can't measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into the world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you tell how dark a certain space is? You measure how much light is presented. Isn't it so? Darkness is a term man uses to describe what happens in the absence of light.
In the end, the young man asked the professor:
- Sir, does evil exist?
This time it was uncertain, the professor answered:
- Of course, as I said before. We see him every day. Cruelty, numerous crimes and violence throughout the world. These examples are nothing but a manifestation of evil.
To this, the student answered:
- Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist for itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is like darkness and cold—a man-made word to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not faith or love, which exist as light and warmth. Evil is the result of the absence of Divine love in the human heart. It’s the kind of cold that comes when there is no heat, or the kind of darkness that comes when there’s absence of light.

In the film Chariots of Fire, there is a significant scene when Eric Liddell takes his sister Jennie for a walk in the hills of Scotland to explain his commitment to training for the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. He tells her, “I’ve decided—I’m going back to China. The missionary service accepted me.” Jennie rejoices to hear this, since she fears her brother’s calling to be a missionary is being threatened by his interest in running.

However, Eric goes on to say, “But I’ve got a lot of running to do first. Jennie—Jennie, you’ve got to understand. I believe that God made me for a purpose—for China. But He also made me fast! And when I run, I feel His pleasure. To give it up would be to hold Him in contempt. You were right. It’s not just fun. To win is to honor Him.”

Liddell was a man of focus and passion because he pursued a growing sense of God’s purpose for his life. “When I run, I feel His pleasure”—what do you do that makes you feel God’s pleasure? Frederick Buechner put it this way in Wishful Thinking: A Theological ABC: “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” As you become a person of calling and purpose, you come to realize that God’s good pleasure is also your good pleasure. Seek satisfaction apart from Him, and you will never find it; seek to please Him first, and you discover that satisfaction is a byproduct of the pursuit of God.
