📰 Four of Australia's leading conservation organisations have united to end native forest logging, joining forces alongside more than 50 environmental organisations to launch the Forest Protection Principles. https://t.co/iurVXBpQvb
⚠️Today in Lutruwita / Tasmania: another giant, centuries-old tree destroyed by Forestry Tasmania.
In the middle of a climate and extinction crisis, this must end.
@AlboMP: end native forest logging NOW. #politas
Three logging contractors more important than a critically endangered species. The Tasmanian govt and so called ‘Sustainable Timbers Tasmania’ lie and they lie and they lie. End native forest logging now! #auspol https://t.co/S7LC8ovKhu
“Australians want our governments to protect native forests, but not as a trade-off for big polluters to keep polluting,” — our Campaigns Director Jenny Weber in Parliament today, calling out the government’s new carbon credits method for ‘protecting’ native forests. #auspol
Watch this video to hear from BBF Patron @ChristineMilne about how Marinus Link is an environmental and economic disaster — https://t.co/ZZpBjeTHzZ

Activists have today boarded factory fish farms in Lutruwita / Tasmania’s Long Bay, demanding that the EPA not renew environmental licenses. #politas

NSW Labor Govt blackmails community. For 10 years a Great Koala Nat Park was promised. At last election promised again. Now they say they will only do it if they get carbon credits to give to big polluters to accelerate global heating. Labor bastardry in action.#auspol
Today, forest defenders returned to Wentworth Hills in Wakyaywirinu / Central Highlands of Tasmania to protest against ongoing logging destruction. A courageous activist, Maria Teerman, attached herself to the gate that locks up the forest. #POLITAS

Last night on 4Corners, Tasmanian Minister Felix Ellis's denial that Tasmanian logs were being sent to Victoria fell apart when logging executive James Neville Smith confirmed that his company is shipping logs there. This is a rort. #endnativeforestlogging

Did you see the damning exposé of the failing, environmentally destructive native forest logging industry on ABC's Four Corners last night? It's well past time to end it. #auspol

The rorting goes on and on! Native forest logging is an ecological and economic disaster. Why are we paying billions to subsidise the destruction of our forests @Albo? Why has Michael O’Connor got so much power over the Labor Party in Canberra, Vic and NSW? #auspol
VAGO's final audit exposed significant oversight and monitoring issues - including that $1.35 million was spent on 10 site rehabilitation grants that required no scope of works or evidence of works completed.

Back in 2024, I referred the state's Forestry Transition Program to the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, following allegations that funds meant for local workers were being exploited to log Tasmanian forests and ship the timber to Victorian mills.

This is deceitful and dodgy.
This money was supposed to be used to support workers transitioning into sustainable jobs.
Instead, millions are going to logging native forests in Tasmania.

As shocking as Four Corners is exposing the rorting of the logging industry, it is not new. It is a regular form of corruption with state and Fed Govt’s handing out $m as compensation and never holding anyone to account for cheating the system. No one even checks eligibility.
Tasmanian Minister Felix Ellis demonstrates his incompetence and bias by saying Tas native forest logs from public forests are not going to Victoria, in spite of log trucks regularly on Spirit of Tas - subsidised by freight equalisation scheme and Vic Govt. Puppet of industry.
Loggers and Vic Premier justify destroying native forest ecosystems because of jobs! No doubt same happened with tobacco and asbestos and child labour back in the day. End native forest logging now! #politas#auspol
Congratulations to dedicated Forest campaigners Paul O’Halloran and Patrick Johnson who have spent hundreds of hours tracking log trucks to Spirit of Tas and Western Junction. Big stories need big hearted people doing the work! #politas#auspol
Just like they took the money in Tas after Forest Peace process and went to Vic and NSW to keep logging. It is intergenerational rip off by logging industry. Every audit report shows corruption but Labor/Lib ignore it. #politas#auspol
