Athletes are some of the most-followed people on social, but who are they following?
I decided to analyse the social accounts of SA's rugby players to understand their social habits & which brands, personalities & accounts they follow.
Here are some of my takeaways:
[THREAD]
Loses ball in promising position thanks to diabolical touch
Sprints back 80 yards to make a tackle
Gets praised for his immense work rate
Repeat for 90 mins
Remember at Stoke away we had a counter from a corner came to him on the halfway line and his first touch put it out for a throw in. Scored some big goals but he was fuckin shite.
@MarcoMasotti_ You also added a sponsor to your logo on two separate occasions. Why not value your brand enough and not tarnish it with having the sponsors name precede it?
@EWNsport A 33-year old seamer with 5 ODI wickets to his name at an average of 49.80. Surely there is a case to bring in an untested player for the rest of the series.
Only one of these two brands are official sponsors of the Springboks. Take a look at the colours and tell me which one we should be speaking about?
Instead people are calling it “the Checkers kit”. Why? A great marketing strategy executed to perfection.
@wadepretorius The FNB logo has also been on screen during games…
Just highlights how one brand has leveraged the RWC. While the other - with the benefit of being official Bok partners - has failed to capture people’s imaginations.
