Der Tod von Caroline von Rantzau erschien zunächst als tragischer Unfall auf einem südafrikanischen Safari-Anwesen. T-online berichtete, die 26-jährige Tochter des Hamburger Reeders Eberhart von Rantzau sei auf Leeuwfontein Safaris im Norden Südafrikas ums Leben gekommen; die genauen Umstände seien zunächst unklar gewesen.

Inzwischen hat sich die Lage deutlich zugespitzt. Nach neuer BILD-Berichterstattung starb Caroline von Rantzau offenbar nicht bei einem gewöhnlichen Unfall, sondern durch Schüsse in ihrem Zimmer.

Noch brisanter: Bereits am 31. Mai soll der Finanzmanager Arno Koen [Koën], 44, tot auf dem Jagdanwesen Leeuwfontein aufgefunden worden sein.

Laut BILD war Koen dort für finanzielle Angelegenheiten zuständig und kam durch einen Schuss ums Leben — einen Tag vor Caroline von Rantzau.

Damit steht nicht mehr nur ein einzelner Todesfall im Raum, sondern eine Abfolge von zwei Todesfällen an zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen auf demselben abgelegenen Safari-Anwesen.

Das verändert die Bewertung erheblich. Der Fall ist nicht mehr nur als tragischer Jagd- oder Waffenunfall zu betrachten, sondern als ungeklärter Komplex aus Waffen, Familienbesitz, Finanzverwaltung und südafrikanischem Lodge-Betrieb.

Arno Koen war offenbar keine zufällige Randperson. Öffentlich auffindbare Unternehmensspuren führen ihn als Inhaber von Koen Accounting Solutions; außerdem taucht sein Name in CIPC-abgeleiteten Firmendaten im Umfeld von Leeuwfontein Safaris, Safari Club International – Africa, Pangolin Lodge, Jetwa Properties und weiteren südafrikanischen Gesellschaften auf. Damit erscheint Koen als Schnittstelle zwischen Buchhaltung, Firmenstruktur, Jagd-/Safari-Netzwerk und möglicherweise Vermögensverwaltung vor Ort.

Die zweite Ebene führt nach Hamburg. Die von-Rantzau-/Essberger-Gruppe ist nicht einfach eine alte Reederfamilie, sondern ein bedeutender Akteur im europäischen Chemikalientanker-Geschäft. Die Unternehmensgruppe bezeichnet sich selbst als „European Market Leader in Chemical Tankers“ und schreibt, sie werde heute von der dritten Generation der Essberger/von-Rantzau-Familie geführt.

Operativ ist besonders E&S Tankers relevant, das Joint Venture von Essberger Tankers und Stolt Tankers. E&S Tankers betreibt laut eigener Darstellung eine europäische Parcel-/Chemikalientankerflotte für Bulk Liquids, insbesondere in Nordwesteuropa, Ostsee und Mittelmeer.

Lloyd’s List nennt als große Kunden des E&S-Tankers-Pools Dow Chemicals, Shell und Borealis; 2022 seien rund 6,7 Millionen Tonnen Ladung transportiert worden.

Damit entsteht die eigentliche Brücke: Der Tod ereignet sich nicht im Umfeld einer beliebigen Privatfamilie, sondern im Umfeld einer Hamburger Reederdynastie mit strategischem Spezialgeschäft in europäischer Chemie- und Petrochemielogistik. Leeuwfontein ist die südafrikanische Jagd-/Safari-Seite dieser Familie; Hamburg-Altona, Essberger, E&S Tankers und Chemikalientanker bilden die industrielle Seite.
