We need reform to the structure that allows those who enforce the law to escape justice themselves. Please listen to the voices of those impacted by police brutality. Don't turn a blind eye to the many videos of police attacking innocent and peaceful protesters. #BlackLivesMatter
Let me let you in on a little secret:
Every day is the start of a new decade. Every hour is midnight of a new year. Every minute and second is a countdown to something new. It all depends on when you start counting from.
This year, remember that you can start anew at any time.
Life and speedruns are filled with back up strats, because sometimes things don't happen like we hope they would. I hope your run goes as planned, but if it doesn't, I'm sure you have the back up strats to pull through.
If you got a new PB by a few minutes, or only one minute, or a few seconds, or only one second, don't dwell on the thought of if you could have done better. You got a new personal best, you have already done better, and you should be proud of any and all progress that you make.
I know you are capable. You know you can do it. All that is left is to go out there, and show everyone that doesn't know exactly what you already have inside you, waiting to enter the speedrunning world.
You will make it through this run. And the next, and the next. No matter how bad you think things get in the moment, you will get through it and start the next run.
Don't always give up just because you make a mistake early on. If you can still save time, you can still improve. Sometimes you have to make it through the early mistakes to make it to the late successes.
When I see so many of my speedfriends run so well through so many games, it motivates me to speedrun too. If you feel the same, I hope you keep that motivation, inspiration, and excitement with you wherever you go.
No matter what holidays you celebrate, no matter what video games you speedrun, I want you to know this season that you are part of the speedrun community, that your contributions matter, and that you are appreciated.
I'm thankful for all of your speedruns, the effort you put into finding glitches, the hours you route and reroute to wittle down seconds, the encouragement you post in chat, and the bonds and community you all help form around this enjoyable activity.
Don't let a bad run turn into a bad day. Try to find the silver linings, the things you can improve, the things that make you laugh, before you let the small things ruin the bigger picture.
Sometimes you need to take a moment, take a breath, in order to do a trick right. And that's just fine. Nobody wants to see you fail because you weren't ready, but everybody wants to see you succeed no matter how many attempts it takes.
