Research harvest kicked off last week in Tyrrell County at the @NC_BFMA site with a trial looking at desiccation timing for @BoCoAgAgent Average yields 75 bpa with big yield hit from desiccating in advance of R6.5. Stay tuned for the full results. @NCExtension@CropAndSoil
Thanks for the southern hospitality! Great turnout and conversations at your NC Soybean Schools!
It was so good to run down memory lane from campus to research stations as well as people I worked with over the years.
My trip was complete with Cheddar Bo!
Worse case of spring Hessian fly infestation I’ve ever seen. Don’t know if they were 100% of the cause but certainly a big contributor. Check out our list of resistant varieties to help avoid this https://t.co/Rqs3apRNlT @NCGrainTalk@BoCoAgAgent@NCOVT
Save the date for the Blacklands Soybean School! It will be held at the Ponzer Community Building on Jan. 24th! @NCStatesoybeans@TrentIrby @malladapted Register here: https://t.co/5UKdpxe4i8
BFMA Annual Meeting will be held Fri. Feb. 3 at the Vernon James Center in Plymouth at 10:30 am! @Jim_Wiesemeyer will discuss global issues that impact agricultural policy and the upcoming farm bill. Lunch is included!
@CropAndSoil well represented at “Dig Into Soils” meeting in the blacklands this morning. Soil microbiomes, alternative nutrient sources, soil carbon and more! @BoCoAgAgent@HyCoAgAgent
2022 OVT #soybean data are now available on both the OVT website (https://t.co/AhSnyeG9mP) and the variety selection tool (https://t.co/i11WXdOUJa). Great yields overall and some definite high fliers by MG and planting date. @ncsoybeans@NCStatesoybeans@CropAndSoil@NCExtension
Shared some tips on Planning a Successful On-Farm Research Trial with @NCExtension Agents @BoCoAgAgent and Jenny Carleo at the State Extension Conference. Great opportunity to share perspective from our soybean OFT program with @ncsoybeans@CropAndSoil
A farmer asked me was it better to deliver wet beans or dry beans to the elevator. This was our best shot at answering this question. Thanks J. Gaska for helping me think this through. I will now wait for an ag economist or grain marketer to tell me I did it wrong 😂
Had an exciting day today with the grain dryer, thankfully nobody got hurt , great response from our local volunteer fire departments and ems #harvest22#corn#fire
Yee-haw! MG3 variety planted on 3/23 in Beaufort Co cut mid 80 bpa on 8/31. In our @ncsoybeans planting date studies over past few years, we have only seen Blackland sites consistently have high yields with a <MG4 planted before mid-April. @NCExtension@CropAndSoil@BoCoAgAgent
Fueled up and hitting the road! Looking forward to be sitting around kitchen tables today rather than being on zoom calls as I tour Eastern #NorthCarolina learning more about local farm operations @NC_PSI
