The Bruno Fernandes slander from some Manchester United fans is ridiculous.
Yes, he didn’t have his best game last night and he hasn’t reached his usual level at the Club World Cup. But who in Portugal’s starting XI has consistently performed well? The honest answer is no one.
When your best players all look ineffective, it’s due to tactical issue rather than an individual one.
Bruno is Portugal’s most creative player but he barely gets the ball in dangerous areas. Cristiano Ronaldo is feeding off scraps because the supply is limited.
Vitinha who is one of the best midfielders currently playing safe passes mainly because there’s little movement in areas that matters.
It’s fair to say Bruno hasn’t been at his best. It’s equally fair to say the coach isn’t getting the best out of Bruno and the squad as a whole.
@Czooba I share the exact opinion.
Martinez's lack of technical depth is his undoing. He is unable to know the best system suited for these three. They lack transition, and his team is best suited for counter attacks, not this possession football nonsense they are playing.
@GiiftyOfMadriid For me, Vitinha never progresses the ball fast enough and effectively too.
Bruno is most effective when he has runners ahead of him. None of that happened up front. Both wingers never made any runs or take-ons during the first half.
@bossolamilekan1 He's actually done nothing throughout the first half. Holds on to the ball without progressing it forward. I'd prefer the Manager pulls him out and let Bruno play his position while they bring in Joao Felix.
We need more spark in the second half.
Stop calling it ‘love’ when it’s really just convenience with good chemistry. Real love shows up when it’s inconvenient…when you’re tired, when you’re broke, when the feelings have gone quiet and all that’s left is the choice. Anybody can love you on a good day.
The one who stays consistent on the boring days, the slow days, the days nothing exciting is happening. That is who you build with. Stop chasing excitement. Start chasing consistency.
Be guided.
