In our afternoon workshop, we got to 'Meet the Mummy!'. This involved us travelling back in time and becoming ancient Egyptian priests. We learnt the process of mummification and the important parts of this ancient ritual. We all enjoyed learning about this gory part of history!
This morning, we explored Ancient Egyptian artefacts at the @NML_Muse World Museum in Liverpool. We explored the exhibit in detail and enjoyed looking at the preserved mummies and all of the other artefacts in the exhibit.
Today we got to explore examples of the places of worship that surround us in our community. We went to a mosque, a hindu temple and a church. We were all warmly welcomed in by the people we have met and enjoyed learning about the different traditions that take place here.
We enjoyed taking part in the Reading is Magic festival today and exploring the story of Popcorn Bob which was written by Maranke Rinck. If you want to find out some more, check out the videos on their website. https://t.co/lmcoClsmNJ
Well done to our School Leadership Team who organised and ran a very successful Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. They raised over £400!
This week year 3 worked through the Rhubarb beds weeding and removing debris. We learnt that we don't harvest at this time of the year so that the Rhubarb can build up energy stores to make it through winter and allow it to produce well next year. @RHSSchools @BodenMr
Great effort from all of our lower juniors during our house cross country event. We're all excited to see who was the winner tomorrow. @ashbridgeschool@Ashbridge_Sport@mrs_livesey
Well done Lower Juniors! What a great job you did in the house cross country. So many laps completed. Thank you to all the parents who took part as well. @Ashbridge_Sport@BodenMr
Year 3 and Year 4 took on our first rehearsal for our 'Let's go sing' performance. We explored some of the songs together and are looking forward to our workshop next week. @mrs_livesey
Today is @PeaceOneDay. The children in Year 3 have created these pieces of word art on the computer, to share messages and words of peace for the world.
One of our students brought in a letter she had received from Buckingham palace during lockdown. She had decided to write a letter to the Queen wishing her well and sent her a picture. We enjoyed reading the letter together and sharing this memory.
Today we marked the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Year 3 spent time discussing and researching aspects of her amazing life and produced a piece of work with pictures and well wishes. The children shared their own emotions and thoughts in a mature and respectful way.
This afternoon, Year 3 became historians as they investigated artefacts and historical sources. Using a range of questioning, the children began to make predictions and analyse our current understanding about upcoming topic all about the Egyptians.
And that's that! What a send off for our Year 6's. Today has been full of smiles, laughter and memories. A final parade of the school to say our goodbyes before heading off on a party bus. Good luck to all of you and have a wonderful summer.
