Only in Nigeria are interest rates that high. The CBNβs official rate is 26%, and most Nigerian banks charge 28% β 34% annually. On top of that, many banks will never give a loan to a low-income person without profiling them like a criminal.
In Europe and the UK, loan interest rates are around 4-5%. In most parts of the world, rates are kept low so people can build businesses and have easy access to capital.
