@AnonOpsSE As soon as Elon took over Twitter I stopped seeing my heavily followed Ukrainian accounts appear in my feed. I knew something like this was taking place.
Four months ago, Canadian PM Mark Carney sat in a living room, looked into a camera and delivered a message which is summarized thusly: The United States — our neighbor, our largest trading partner, the country whose economy has been braided into ours for the better part of two centuries — is no longer an ally we can count on. They are compromised by a conman. America is breaking, and yes, that special relationship isn’t just over; it’s a liability. The ties that made us strong have become the ties that make us vulnerable because, to its neighbors and "allies," America has become a non-functional, malevolent nation.
Yesterday, Carney - accompanied by a perfectly consistent press release - cancelled trade negotiations with the US. It wasn't Trump who canceled them, it was Carney. He looked at the final terms, called them unfair and uneconomic, tinged by animus and envy, so he pulled his negotiators home, and matched the 50% tariffs levied by Trump dollar for dollar. He refused to sign a bad deal just to claim a deal.
What Carney has been saying, very effectively, consistently, on the world stage and at home, over and over - 4 months ago and again yesterday - is that Canada is not going to negotiate by dysfunction and not going to capitulate to a madman and bully who is trying to use Canada as a pawn to feign grandiosity.
Carney sees Trump for who and what he is.
And most of all, Carney is saying that Canada is a sovereign nation, will remain as such, is not for sale, will make its own determinations, and will do fine.
He's right and I believe him.
Anyone of any political persuasion who is able to accept that 2+2 is 4, should be able to see that our Democracy and Constitution - two things which have essentially created, memorialized, and defined America for two and a half centuries ... ARE UNDER ATTACK. There's no denying this anymore.
The attackers are those IN POWER. They CONTINUE TO consolidate power, and they're using it. They HAVE established an apparatus designed to change America into an Authoritarian State, AND an oligarchy. They're aligning America with other autocracies. They've been following The Authoritarian Playbook. And - this transcends Trump.
Their primary intent is to turn our government OF, BY, AND FOR THE PEOPLE into a government controlled by a select few AND ... the key goal ... to effectuate a massive transfer of wealth to Friends of the State to cement power, change rules, and add permanence.
IF we don't want this, then we HAVE to make sure our fellow citizens see and appreciate what is happening.
The BIG challenges - DISTRACTIONS, DISINFORMATION, and NORMALIZATION. Distractions and disinformation are always among THE primary strategies used by authoritarians, historically and globally, to sow confusion and chaos. They make a population feel overwhelmed and unempowered, so they're more easily pacified or controlled. Look around. Distractions and disinformation are now ... everywhere.
When reality is blurred, freedoms can be more selectively rationed. When the public narrative is filled with untruth, people can be more easily pitted against one another - behaving emotionally and tribally, and less logically. When this tribalism rules, even basic humanity, compassion, and kindness - are no longer seen as essential traits; and contentment is no longer defined by peace of mind - it's redefined by "winning," laid out by the State as - "owning" and subduing the other side.
That kind of "winning" is seductive to the manipulated, addictive to the over-emotionalized.
But that kind of winning only benefits the oligarchs, not The People. This is one election where the goal is simply to convince fellow countrymen not to vote against their own interests and to put a check in our president. In theory, that's an easy winnable argument, but for distractions and disinformation ....
Good morning. The air is cool today and my dog is a good boy.
Trump is highly disordered, unfathomably corrupt, increasingly desperate to portray grandiosity, beyond terrified of humiliation, and - let's just say it - he's a full-on traitor to America and its Founders.
Peel back the fog borne of chaos, outrage, and falsity and you'll see: He is speaking to an ever-shrinking base, and independents are against him in record numbers.
Still, and despite this, he simply cannot pivot, cannot stop, cannot shut up, and cannot react in any way other than what is dictated by his disorders - and that is to lie, threaten or double down.
Trump cannot see beyond himself, and more people are recognizing this. More people are also recognizing that an inability to see past oneself is arguably the worst trait a leader could have.
Stay focused. Breathe deeply.
Have a nice day!
Trump is unique among malignant narcissists in being of below average intelligence, inarticulate, and poorly read. We almost never see this.
Even many non-political malignant narcissists (Ted Bundy) had high IQ's. And "cult of personality" malignant narcissists (Jim Jones, David Koresh), are especially literate and sharp. The pervasiveness and persuasiveness of cult leaders is usually enhanced by their intelligence and articulacy, repartee and even wit.
Yet Trump is such a loud, boorish, and obvious con, that his political rise speaks as much to our celebrity culture, our consuming of media in echo chambers, his craven enablers, and our aggrieved society. This convergence has created a phenomenon that's made too much of our electorate ... I'll just be nice and call them "susceptible."
BUT - and this is the point of this tweet - BECAUSE he's so flawed, so owned by his disorders, and so enfeebled, he can't navigate the very chaos he inflicts. He's become too old, too desperate, too fearful and too unable to process his own mortification. He has no strategic thought or inclination to play from behind.
All he has now are his cravings, fantastical desire to reclaim grandiosity, panicked fear of humiliation, and toxicity. He has no smarts, no patience, no craftiness. And not enough incoming narcissistic nutrition, no matter how often they give him the North Korea treatment. You can see that this is all he has more clearly now, because he keeps making mistakes and screwing up everything, everywhere, all at once.
His decline is unmistakable. His demise will be spectacular.
Trump has been having a hypomanic episode the past 2 hours. Post after post after post. I count about 60 of them - mostly images, many of them AI. All his trademark pathologies; all his underlying themes: Malice. Grievance. Division. Entitlement.
His gut is a simmering stew of agitation, rage, and desperation. His disordered brain is filled with paranoid fantasies of revenge alongside fantastical visions of regaining his grandiosity.
He hates being trapped and stuck in Iran. He hates that Epstein won't go away. He hates being told his speech at the dinner was inappropriate. He hates that his name needed to come off a building. He hates that musical artists canceled from his show. He hates losing in court. And he especially hates his own mortality.
Neither you nor I can EVER feel the kind of frenzied fear and fanaticism that Trump feels now. This is a man, who knows he's in his final chapter, who is confounded that he, all that he is, all that he ever said he was, his lifetime of secrets and lies and false constructs - is vulnerable to exposure.
How can he possibly sit still? How can he sleep? Who can he trust?
Malignant narcissists in decline always get worse, it's always messy, and they never want to go down alone.
We are supposedly at war to stop Iran from enriching the uranium we “obliterated” over a year ago.
Yesterday we signed a deal to help Saudi Arabia enrich uranium.
The first time the United States has ever helped another country enrich uranium on foreign soil.
The Saudis refused the inspection protocol 140 other countries accept. Too intrusive, they said.
Trump agreed. He signed a national security waiver to get around the rule.
The Saudis paid Kushner $100 million. They put $2 billion into his firm. They put another $6 billion into LIV Golf, which pays Trump properties to host its tournaments. They signed ten billion dollars in Trump-branded real estate deals in Jeddah and Riyadh. All in just the last few years.
But sure. My paintings.
Trump says Democrats forgot to rig the election in 2016, successfully rigged it while *he* was president in 2020, then forgot how to rig it again in 2024. So the only election Democrats supposedly stole was the one he himself controlled.
You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe this bullshit.
We seal envelopes not because the letter contains a conspiracy, but because the contents belong exclusively to the sender and the receiver.
The "nothing to hide" argument is pure corporate/state propaganda. Privacy isn't about hiding a crime; it's about deciding who gets access to your life. It’s a boundary of power, not a shield for guilt.
@GrantSlatton I had a similar issue. 1st guy I called just sounded like a rat sympathiser so I hung up on him mid sentence. 2nd guy came over and seemed OK but he had a pony tail + rat like features - not to be trusted.
Finally, I got a guy who had half his ancestors die of bubonic plague
