Our students need more recess, unstructured play, Physical Education, all the Arts, and extracurricular activities! That's how we make their social/emotional health a priority.
Whenever I tell a stranger I’m a teacher, 9/10 times they tell me about their favorite teacher and usually have a quote or memory that has stuck with them.
Just a reminder that our work matters, even if you don’t think it’s making a difference or it feels fruitless. It matters.

When people are absent, I send a message to let them know that we are thinking about them and to make sure they take care of themselves.
Today, I stayed home sick. The messages poured in of people telling me to take care of myself.

teaching is a sacred profession not bc of educators being martyrs (we’re not) or saviors (we should never be) but bc of its proximity to children, who are the most sacred things on this damn planet
