If it would have been calm, soft, ball in hand at the Colonial the scores would have been low…similar to Nelson. Weather is everything, also first year for course to grow in so no rough at TPC. Craig Ranch will play tougher in the future…amazing what difference a week makes…
Even in peak season rounds cost under $400 to play. Compared to Pebble/Kohler/TPC Sawgrass or even Frisco…substantially less. Pure golf, fun to play, and a very reasonable hit to your wallet. We just went in February, had great weather and rounds were under $200. Fantastic!
The European Club is no more.
Long live Brittas Bay!
New ownership will be turning it into the newest golf resort in Ireland.
Kyle Phillips has been hired to completely reimagine the formally brutally tough course.
Expect it to become a huge hit. Kyle Phillips designed Kingsbarns, one of the most popular golf courses on the planet.
Follow them to see the progress!
Love this play, great video, even better knowing Minnesota fans can’t get over it…not a single frame shows Pearson pushing off…only that 43 overran the ball! Miss those days when Cowboys won meaningful games!
Show me one team that can beat Texas Tech on the football field this year…
You can’t, because there isn’t one…
And words cannot describe how much I am pulling for that team…
So it should be guns up!
@Jaig_Eyes77 It’s just hard to believe after the perfection of the Cotton Bowl Winter Classic the Stars felt the need to go for the money grab at Jerry World.
Lahinch Golf Club - 1892
Old Tom Morris/Alister MacKenzie
#37 in the World Top 100
$500 USD
There are arguments all the time about what the “best” golf courses are.
I’ve learned what is way more important to the individual is what their favorites are. And I can tell you Lahinch is immediately one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played.
Lahinch is a soulful experience.
One of the most unique golf courses on the planet, it has golf holes that boggle the mind. Original Old Tom Morris holes Klondyke and Dell are truly 2 legendary designs that are time capsules to a different time. You couldn’t design them today.
Alister’s influence means greens that are rollicking fun. If there is a weakness to the great Links courses, it’s that the greens are often flattish. That’s not an issue here, the greens have lots of internal contour so the thinking doesn’t end when you’ve made it to your putt.
The routing weaves through the dunes providing wonderful views and varying wind battles. If there is small demerit, it’s that the final 5 holes are back and forth. The holes themselves are great, but you may end up with 3 straight finishing holes dead into the wind, like we did.
The course is hard, but playable and fun. The giant dunes and blind shots make well played golf shots especially rewarding. The blind shots require imagination and faith, you have to choose a line and commit without the benefit of a finish line in sight. The 4th hole does have a flag waver who lets people know when to hit.
I can’t say enough about Lahinch. Ireland has so many great courses, but this will be the one I think about the most. I play golf for fun and quite simply, Lahinch was the most fun.
Lahinch is my cup of tea. If you like quirk, like I do, get here.
