"Reflections Upon 'Poverty Dynamics in the Long Late Antiquity, 300 – 800 AD'”
Ian Bonze looks back on the July conference that he and Carlos Machado organised: https://t.co/rf3BL6GtV3 .
Last week, Carlos Machado and I received scholars from different academic backgrounds to discuss poverty drivers in the long Late Antiquity (300-800 AD). I had the opportunity to speak about Credit, Debt, and Social Mobility in Late Antiquity. It was an enriching experience.
Last Tuesday, I spoke at the event "Land and Power in the Later Roman World" in Tübingen about debt and land disputes in Late Antiquity. The event gathered scholars with diverse expertise to discuss land in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. It was a great experience!
Yesterday I attended a great conference in Rio de Janeiro that brought together historians and economists to discuss financial crises. I had the privilege of being invited to speak about the 3rd-century crisis and its consequences for public and private finances in Late Antiquity

Yesterday I had the great pleasure to be back at the Institute of History of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to present a conference entitled "The other side of the coin: credit in the late-antique taxation system" in a event full of great researchers. Loved it!
Faced with threats of 50 percent tariffs and demands to end a criminal case, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil said in an interview that he wouldn’t take orders from President Trump. https://t.co/GG5cZrILo9
Happy to share that my article, together with Juan Moros is now available in the Journal of Roman archaeology from @CambridgeUniPre in open access. Link: https://t.co/dLWcCJOKXc
