@WomanDefiner@oilfield_rockhd they couldn’t convince him to run, he would’ve coasted to an easy win but he’s 74 and already accomplished so much. A truly great man who would’ve been perfect for governor but just too late for him
@FranmilsEyebrow the Vogt slander is absolutely insane. 2nd time in 3 years he’s taken a slightly above average team to the doorstep of the World Series and all I see on the timeline is people complaining about how he uses the bullpen
Lots of debate in my feed about VC guys claiming to bring back American manufacturing with a $16 sweater and people asking them to prove it. There’s a lot of venture money going into textile automation and robotics.
If you can make a sweater here and sell it for $16 profitably, that’s pretty cool. Knits are really hard to make in the U.S. I’m rooting for it. We also make things here, so I get the skepticism.
We’re moving production to an old factory in West Virginia. To date we’ve been LA based. The machines are old in WV and being retrofitted. There are skilled people there who like sewing and want the work. They would rather work than not work, and the factory has been out of work.
We will cut in LA, freight everything to WV, and have it sewn and finished there. It costs a lot more than doing it overseas. Getting it all to work has been hard. We’re on another run of samples now from WV to get the product right.
I don’t have a big claim to make about what we’re building. We probably won’t revolutionize American manufacturing. I’m not even sure how much of this scales.
But I like that factory. I like the people working there. And I think making good clothes with people who care about their work is worth doing.
It does feel like a dying art. We’re trying to keep a little of it alive.
