What a shame. I've an appointment in Tiverton at 11.40 so wouldn't get there in time. I'd have loved to have met you. Do you have any other events coming up? I'm sure some of our book loving community will be there. Have fun.
@WhatEmsReadingX Glad it's not only me. I'm always surprised when even the best writers fall prey to these cliches. I guess they sneak in and editors either don't see them or don't think they are a problem. Editors out there - what do you think?
Suzanne Clark writes well. I've not read the other book. Will look forward to hearing your thoughts. My big book for the Autumn will be Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. Not read him before.
The Looe Festival of Words is this week. I am giving a talk with Q&A on Forensics for #Crime#writers on Weds 30th Sept, 2-3.30pm at the Looe Harbour Heritage Centre. Free. Tickets at the link. It's going to be murder!

Thanks Jane. What a great shortlist. 6 very different books. I didnt get around to reading the longlisted books so haven't any sense of those that didn't make the final 6. I'd love to hear people's houghts on those as well 🙂

@ParanormalJunk2 Whilst it often feels bleak I think that pretty well every period in history can point to that experience. And, this point in time enjoys many benefits that other periods in history would hardly believe possible..so, I remain an optimistic.🙂
@levisackermxn Not sure I can choose a best but The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann comes close and I love everything by Kristin Hannah, oh and Land by Maggie O'Farrell and ...
