It traces back to a 20-year-old anecdotal estimate by a single U.S. consular officer in Chennai (2005–07) — and she acknowledged its limitations herself.

Meanwhile, Kerala’s fake-degree scandal is real.

But that’s a different story.

Most of those forged credentials were allegedly used for jobs in India, not H-1B visas.

Fraud exists.

Investigations are legitimate.

Bad actors should be prosecuted.

But recycling a 20-year-old anecdote, fusing it with an unrelated scandal, and presenting it as proof of “90% fraud today” is not fact-checking.
