British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch is among six people missing after his luxury superyacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily during a violent storm early Monday morning.
The incident occurred when the 56-meter vessel was struck by a freak waterspout near Porticello, east of Palermo.
Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, was among the 15 people rescued from the yacht.
The Italian Coast Guard reported that the Bayesian had a total of 22 people on board - 12 passengers and 10 crew members - when it encountered the severe weather conditions.
Tragically, divers have recovered one body, believed to be that of the ship's chef, at a depth of about 50 meters (164 feet) near the wreckage.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the remaining five missing individuals, with police divers attempting to reach the hull of the ship resting on the seabed.
