What do parents want from this election?
It isn't parental rights.
Parents told us that they want more supports and programming for students, as well as safe and inclusive schools.
When you cast your vote, be sure to consider which party will best support student well-being.

This was a big job and questions arose about how schools that couldn't attract more than one or two parents to Parent Council would be able to accomplish this.
Also, schools are not safe places for some families and there were concerns about whose voices would be prioritized.

One part of the rejected Bill 64 involved establishing School Community Councils, where parents and community members would work to advise principals on many topics. The list below is a lot.

Thinking about how the PC's campaign pledge relating to parental rights echoes back to Bill 64.

Where we should be talking about how to foster better communication between schools and parents, they are trying to do so through legislation. But you can't legislate relationships.

@cdbennet I don't have them anymore. They gave me about 200 in 2017 or so to give out to students. Then after the new curriculum came out they had another version that was only online

Can someone explain to me why we’ve done this rather than just take the current Personal Finance 20S curriculum, use MB teachers to revise & update it, & make it mandatory? Why do we need to send $ to a private company in BC to make this happen? @BradMichaleski @WayneEwaskoMLA

2SLGBTQ+ youth deserve the chance to see themselves represented and their identities affirmed. The rhetoric to ban these books is harmful and and dangerous.
