Our Kaluku Neonate Unit was born from necessity, after its founding member. Lemeki, was plucked from a raging Mara river in 2018.

The Nairobi Nursery was sodden from rains at the time of her rescue, so we looked to the dry & warm conditions of Tsavo. We had not anticipated her arrival and immediately began constructing proper stables. In the meantime, Lemeki took up residence in a ground-floor office that had been converted into a makeshift elephant bedroom. While we anticipated a fight to save her life, she thrived from the outset. In fact, she immediately appointed herself queen of Kaluku and reigned over it as if it was her private kingdom.

Now in Voi, Lemeki continues to thrive, displaying an unrivalled zest for life, and fun!

Three people killed. Three more injured.

Entrance to a subway station and a McDonald's heavily damaged. Water supply pipeline damaged. Lots of people in Kyiv are without water.

A really old watercolour from when I was still learning how to use them. To be honest I still am but this was early days! I love round pictures and dragonflies.
