What is the story behind this dress? It was made in the #1880s by Mrs Samuel Shimn from traditional #EasternEuropean #embroidery pieces but in the style of contemporary dress. Is this a nostalgic reminder of home? A reuse of valuable cloth? Would love to hear its tale @metmuseum
