Acquiring editor, Flatpage. Book doctor, Manuscript Craftwork. Confetti for a carnival, confetti for a wedding. Once @UNDPress, @vanderbiltUP & @floridapress
News! As of today, I'm the new acquiring editor for Flatpage Publishing. Flatpage is an editorial agency, offering editorial guidance to authors. This year Flatpage announced an independent publishing program, and that's where I come in. Check it out: https://t.co/KpeUD377hz
It was a good road to publication date for this, despite the brutal subject matter. But this is my fourth acquiring role, marking well over twenty years in publishing at four different publishers. Hard topic, but a great example of publishing done right.

The Sy's Kosher Meat Market and Delicatessen was located in South Bend, Indiana, on Western Ave. It was founded by Holocaust survivors from Czechoslovakia who emigrated to the United States in 1951.
So this new publishing house, Flatpage Books, brought me on a year ago last week. It's methodical work, but the first title is close to release date! Would love to see you at a talk I'm hosting about Flatpage Books itself, Nov. 4 at 1pm EDT: https://t.co/s0imxOWyLl
I was scheduled to give a talk on Palestine at a student conference at @NotreDame. The University rescinded my talk a week in advance citing an extremely flimsy excuse. It is truly disgusting. Attached is the letter I received and my reply, link below...
This weekend I'll be roaming the @isanet meeting, and if there's still folks on here who might be at the same place I would love to catch up. My freshman year at Flatpage is coming into focus!
Thought I might break up the trend here today. Now that I've caught my breath, I wanted to elaborate on what we hope to build as a publishing program at Flatpage. We're a truly independent publisher, with a firm track record as a versatile editorial agency. 1/
We're also starting deliberately small, because we can. It helps us control quality all around. And our focus incorporates disciplines I've acquired in since the early 2000s: political violence & extremism, culture and community, and hopefully a little bit in history. 2/
