Martin Perez is another interesting signing. 5.12 ERA in 2019 and hasn’t been sub 4 since 2013. One thing he does do really well though is generate weak contact. In 2019 he was top 4% of MLB in exit velocity and top 7% in hard hit %.

Jose Peraza generates really weak contact and had a down 2019, but he did hit .288 and tally 182 hits in 2018 which was top 10 in MLB. Interesting pickup but also probably means Brock Holt isn’t coming back.

Xander Bogaerts has recorded the 10th 50-double season in franchise history. He joins David Ortiz (2007) as the only Red Sox ever with 30+ HR and 50+ doubles in a season.

The only other shortstop in MLB history with 30+ HR and 50+ doubles in a season is Alex Rodriguez (1996).
