It's not just #UnitedHealthcare or health insurance in general.
Every industry in capitalism treats life and death as numbers on a spreadsheet that only matters if it affects their bottom line.

I've been homeless three times, and I was working each of those times. I wasn't using drugs, or very little if so (alcohol and weed) and it wasn't the cause of my homelessness.
There is a type of often drug-addled, often belligerent homeless person that's so broken and so despondent that they have given up and surrendered to the drugs or alcohol or the complete wastage of their lives. We have to admit this fact. But they're not the majority of homeless. Once someone is in that state of human wreckage, offering a "job" is not a pat answer. They need housing and real care and help to work out the deep trauma and help to get out of the addictions they use to cope with the trauma.
I'm not saying this to act superior, but just because we anti-capitalists need to acknowledge the complex reality and not fall into language patterns and conceptual traps.
Reality is complex and homelessness is a very bad problem, and it's *not* caused by "drugs and mental illness" as the false narrative goes, but drugs and mental illness are correlated to homelessness strongly. But the causation of both is the cruel system of capitalism.
Remember how everyone rushed to use his photo, of his walking toward an IDF tank to advocate for the lives of his patients? Rushed to plaster it everywhere, rushed to make AI edits, art, whatever. That was in December 2024.
How often is he mentioned today? He is alive, he is being tortured and slowly killed - he, alongside every Palestinian hostage, must be freed.
I find it odd that more disabled people aren’t communists and that more communists don’t talk about disability. Becoming an impoverished second class citizen due to a disability looms over every worker’s head. It unites us across every intersection.
Something I wish people understood better about Platner is that he switches his persona for different audiences.
For example, in 2019, he commented at length on SRA (Socialist Rifle Association) reddit about how he disapproved of Marines using Punisher Skulls and Viking Call signs as insignia because he found the insignia "reeks of fascism." All while, again, ostensibly being naïve re: the Totenkopf--the unifying symbol of the SS--on his own chest.
Then, in 2020, when writing on r/liberalgunowners, he states a completely contradictory position: Sniper/Scouts have SS bolts and that's not problematic at all. Platner's argument: "I know a bunch of black and latino HOGs with bolts, they'd be quite surprised to hear they are part of a conspiracy to infiltrate white supremacists into the Marine Corps."
So, in 2019, Punisher Skulls seem fascistic--and he always disapproved of them--but, in 2020, SS bolts are just part of a long tradition. "I know lots with bolts."
Meanwhile, all of this elaborate (but contradictory) commentary on "Insignia: Fascist or no?" is occurring as Platner sits there with the unifying symbol of the SS tattooed for perpetuity on his chest, but has never once considered what it might mean beyond being a "terrifying skull and crossbones."
Okay.
Again- I Love Boosters has an awareness problem. I, and my work, get's muted on the internet and posts about it get confined to a smaller circle than others. Let's get it out there.
@ClassicalSocdem Kinda foolish to take these people's statements at face value. They are just centrist liberals who are self aware enough to know that their politics are embarrassing, so they pretend to be progressive for brownie points and find a way to posture as being leftier than thou.
@ChrisAlvino having the homogenizing computer program handle the "creative spark" part of the creative process is maybe the worst possible way to use it for art
The closure of Delaney Hall without the release of detainees is not a win. The closure of Delaney Hall but not getting ICE out of New Jersey is not a win. If detainees are transferred out of Jersey that’s not a win. Family separation and violence against detainees would continue.
@gremloe This is a ploy to force the public to be the bag holders when these projects flop btw. It's not at all like being tempted by the ring. It's actively selling us out.
They beat men for having a translator. Gassed them. Then cleaned the blood off the floors hoping no one would find out. But HE CALLED. We heard it.
We’re not letting this disappear. The world will know what’s happening inside Delaney Hall. #ShutDownDelaneyHall
