🪺gigaverse egg hatching follow up post

the one i did yesterday was napkin-ish ngl. posted while having manflu and coding some stuff.

the temperature and comfort bars aren't fully reset from day to day, only partially. this changes the cost, naturally.

i had to put a 5th egg into the hatchery just now in order to map it all properly.

going for 100/100 temperature is a trap. both 90 and 100 is yielding the same progression rate of 3.00%. you'd waste 5 coal by doing so. for that reason i am treating 90 as the max in the calculation.

another thing i left out yesterday was the cost of starting the hatchery. currently its at 18 bucks worth of materials.

day 1 cost 21 bucks for optimizing temperature and comfort, plus an additional 18 for starting the hatching process. total cost of the remaining days is 305, for the grand total of 344 $.

quite expensive, and it should be! after all you are optimizing to get as good odds for high rarity as possible by reaching 100 in quality.

to be crystal clear: the cost above assumes youre buying all required materials. that only applies if you havent done any underhaul runs, so for most people the cost is much lower.

🍳cheaper alternative (add some bacon)

settle for 50/100 in temperature and 2/5 in comfort. that way you wont be needing any coal, fiber or stone.

it'll take 50 days to hatch the egg, and when it does, the quality bar will reach 60%. doesn't sound like a bad trade off, because with this approach you'd spend 58 bucks instead of 337. you only give up 40% quality and add 16 days to hatching.

the above method only works if you aren't penalized somehow by having temperature reach 0. temperature at 50 means you will hit 0 on every daily reset (60 is deducted). if there is no negative impact, then youre even at an advantage, as you only lose 50 temp while those spending coal will lose 60 daily.

🦥fate (imagine hatching a sloth for mount)

the only thing we know is that the first fate pts (1/20) cost 5 dust. i think the cost will be incremental, since thats the case with the other two bars.

+1 dust per pts until fate is at 10, then we might need to pay with shard to unlock the last 10. thats a total of 95 dust and 95 shard. i am crusader faction, and it would cost me around 80 bucks to reach 20/20 if i had to buy it on the market.

the first fate pts increase the odds from 0 to 4.75% for whatever faction dust you paid with, and 0.25% for gigus. i doubt we can just stack all pts into one faction and get it to 95%. and i suspect it might also be beneficial to pay with different faction dust to increase odds of gigus, but we'll see.

i absolutely love everything about hatching so far. seems well balanced and fun, and a heck of an item sink. might even out-do stubs. and it'll be interesting to build some calculator for this, especially when/if odds are revealed (quality-> rarity).

if you think hatching is too expensive, then there will be tons of opportunity to sell items on gigamarket instead. thats the lovely thing about gigaverse, so many ways to play!
