So true and so nuanced. It certainly made me question the stats on people apparently not having an inner monologue (25 to 50%)
When a person's sense of self IS EMBEDDED IN their thoughts, they do not have the capacity to step back and perceive their thoughts as thoughts.
The thing looking is actually being created by the thing they are looking for.
It's like an eyeball looking for itself. Can't be done..
@nopranablem@OortCloudAtlas Oooh super helpful. I am capable of this but post retreat i descend so far into phone addiction that the collapse into screen isn’t enough to stop me scrolling. But then again, if I go back to open awareness when this happens then that is at least better than being lost 🙏
@chercher_ai I find this exercise super interesting on retreat because my mind is so desperate for food it turns absolutely anything it can find into a meaningful image.
