#FloralFriday 🌼 Eastern bell (𝘙𝘰𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘢) has white to pale blue bell flowers in dense heads at stem tips. The only 𝘙𝘰𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢 found outside the Cape Floristic Region, it grows in sandy coastal grasslands from the Eastern Cape to KZN.

The African stargrass (𝘏𝘺𝘱𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢) brightens summer grasslands with yellow star blooms. Leaves appear first in neat ranks. This corm-forming plant is fire-tolerant but pressured by wild harvesting.

Beach snakethistle (𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘢) was once common on sandy coastal flats from the Cape Peninsula to Agulhas. Urban expansion, invasives and overgrazing now threaten its habitat. Today it is listed as Vulnerable.
