Jewish Democrats in Michigan are crossing party lines to back Republican Mike Rogers in the Senate race against Abdul El-Sayed — and the math could be devastating for Democrats.

Rogers lost his last Senate bid by under 20,000 votes. Michigan has roughly 70,000 Jewish voters. Republican strategists say if a majority flip, that's a potential 100,000-vote swing in a race Democrats must hold to have any shot at retaking the Senate majority.

An open letter is now circulating among Jewish leaders urging Democrats and independents to support Rogers, with one organizer calling it a "do-or-die moment" driven by what they describe as an "anti-Jewish drift" in the party. El-Sayed's associations with controversial streamer Hasan Piker, his use of the word "bloodthirsty" to describe Israel's military operations, and his repeated refusal to directly answer whether Israel has the right to exist, have fueled the backlash.

🔥🚨 BREAKING — TOTAL BOMBSHELL: A new report states that Michigan Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s birth mother, Fatten Elkomy, worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA) from 1999 to at least 2004.

That organization was later designated by the U.S. Treasury for providing financial support to Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, and Hamas.

Court exhibits from a related sanctions case list Elkomy in connection with multiple wire transfers and phone calls.

Neither she nor her brother was charged with a crime.

El-Sayed has rarely discussed his birth mother on the campaign trail. The organization eventually pleaded guilty to violating Iraq sanctions and was dissolved.
