We are delighted that our Chief Executive Ann Chalmers has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to bereaved children, young people, parents and families.

Ann has worked in the bereavement sector for nearly 30 years; she joined Child Bereavement UK in 1996 and has been our CEO since 2003. Ann’s vision at the helm has grown the charity from a small local organisation to an established UK-wide operation with services from London to Glasgow. Ann’s belief in placing the needs of bereaved families at the heart of the charity’s work, and her passion for training and supporting professionals who work with them, have had a positive impact on the lives of many thousands of professionals, and many more thousands of grieving children, young people, parents and families. It is wonderful that Ann’s dedication and achievements have been recognised with this well-deserved honour.

Ann Chalmers said: “For me, this honour is truly about all the bereaved families I’ve learned so much from and who have informed the work of the charity over the years, and I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful staff, Trustees, volunteers and supporters who have all helped make Child Bereavement UK what it is today.”
