ZERO TO HERO
When you’re first starting out, you’ll want to get the basics down COLD
A comprehensive guide to the fundamentals of golf, filled with Gopher-approved resources:
@calhoun@chambleebrandel Let’s say average putts to hole out from 25 feet is 1.9, and from 5 feet it’s 1.2
If average tour player hit to 25 feet from 150 yards, and someone hits it to 5 feet it’ll take them .7 less strokes to hole out.
So by hitting it to 5 feet they gained .7 shots.
I feel I’ve pretty much cracked the code for staying in shape & very healthy biomarkers year round without significant lifestyle changes/time commitment (unless completely sedentary):
- Lift 3-5 days a week, can do more but diminished time returns
- Some type of athletic hobby you do multiple days a week (just going to the driving range & walking around my yard chipping doubles my daily activity levels)
- Multiple daily walks (prefer sunset, sunrise, & short walks after meals for energy/digestion)
- At least 1 day a week on a longer walk/hike out in nature
- Moderate-high protein, balanced carbs & fats depending on glucose management, predominantly meat, fish, eggs, fruit, well-digested carbs, veggies, & dairy if you handle it well
Point 2, 3, & 4 are huge because it’ll allow much more flexibility in food intake, it’s close to an extra 1000 calories a day for myself.
