Basis weight is the strength of a box. The higher the basis weight the stronger the box will be.
To figure out basis weight , you must know the liners and medium first.
Basis weight = (Medium X 1.4)+ Liner + Liner

DW stands for double wall

When producing a box. The sheets are put onto a corrugator, also known as a “Gator” which cuts the sheet down to the correct size before going to the other
manufacturer ‘s machines.

Paper liners stick together with corn starch as the primary ingredient for the glue.

The wavy part on a corrugated box is the “medium” paper. A single wall box consist of two liners and a medium. The wave height and length is called the flute. “C” flute is the most common.

ECT stands for Edge Crush Test. The most commonly used ECT is 32
