“I will continue my campaign to fight for the rights of all Rwandans,” a surprised but happy Rwigara told reporters after celebrating. “This is the beginning, because there’s still a lot that needs to be done in our country.”

A group of members of the US Congress are calling on the Rwandan government to drop charges against Diane Rwigara, a fierce government critic who is facing up to 22 years in prison on charges of incitement and fraud https://t.co/we4Sts6mnP
We just learned that the Rwandan court has dropped all charges against Diane Rwigara and her mother Adeline. I’m encouraged that the Rwandan government recognized that these women shouldn’t be punished for Diane’s peaceful political participation.

Vital to remember that Diane #Rwigara and her mother's acquittal is only a small part of the story. The #Kagame regime will now point to this as an example of "leniency" or "justice," when in fact, their persecution served its purpose: a chilling effect to other would-be critics.
“The court rules that Diane Rwigara is innocent.” Huge victory for justice in #Rwanda. The global attention on this case no doubt played a role. Let's not forget the many others similarly charged and languishing in prison for exercising their basic rights. https://t.co/zkJAm332b2

@ruhumuza@OfficialQWF@randomhouse@UN This award belongs to the courageous Rwandans - Tutsi and Hutu - and Congolese who have stood up to decades of tyranny from Kagame, the RPF and all their agents worldwide. The book is merely one of many efforts by them and others over 25 years to speak truth to power.
