Earlier this morning, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, with tremors felt across both Myanmar and Thailand. An aftershock of 6.4 magnitude soon followed, adding to the devastation.

The Salvation Army had the privilege of attending the Liberal caucus Christmas reception in Ottawa this week, where Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise appearance.
One of the event sponsors, MP Jean Yip, recently put forward a private member's motion, M-171, to declare December Canadian Christian Month, which was received warmly by attendees at the reception.
"It was a wonderful celebration that left participants with a greater sense of the Christmas gospel message of hope, peace, joy and love for all Canadians," says Major Rick Zelinsky, director of public affairs.
