Grade 2 STEM Straw Rocket project with a parent volunteer is in full mode. So far we have trialed a prototype with different diameters, noses, and fins. We are learning to record our experiments and measure accurately.

Grade 2 was exploring ecology today with a visit from an actual Ecologist. We learned about rivers, wetlands and riparian areas. If you don’t know what that means…ask us!

Grade 2 had another visit with an Indigenous elder, Shirley Hill. We talked about how spending time in nature is important. We learned about the 13 moon Indigenous calendar. We danced with hoops, too!

Happy Earth Day from Grade 2! We wrote about how we can take care of the earth. We did Earth day art, drew pictures, did a scavenger hunt, and created an acrostic poem .

Grade 2 science is about Earth systems. We read the Indigenous Peoples story about Turtle Island. We drew and painted Turtles.

Grade 2 was wishing spring would hurry up and get here. They drew ideas about what changes that happens to people, animals, plants and weather. They wrote their stories.

Grade 2 swimmers are learning the “Swim to Survive” program. They are learning to roll safely into the water, tread water, and swim 50 m. So much fun at the pool!

Exploring sound by making instruments in grade 2 science : we read the true story called “Ada’s Violin” and were inspired to create our own instruments with recycled materials!

Grade 2 Field trip to the zoo to enjoy the Polar Bears and other Canadian wildlife…snowstorms or sunshine!
The size of a polar bear and its paws were amazing!
