The @HistorySAZAR site has 120k followers and its raison d'être is to remind Black people of their history, often incorporating subtle themes of victimhood and references to Apartheid. While this isn't inherently problematic - free speech, after all.

However, it has attracted the attention of @HermanMashaba, leader of ASA, who has a following of 783k. In which he quotes these posts and liberally adds his own brand of intoxicated rhetoric. Amplifying racial divisions and anti-white sentiment.

I firmly believe most South Africans, the majority of whom aren't active on social media, simply want to live in a country that is fair and governed by leaders who genuinely serve the interests of the people who elected them.

Most White South Africans view the painful legacy of Apartheid with the disdain it rightfully deserves. By and large, they want to contribute to building a country that benefits all who call it home.

Above all, they believe there is little value in constantly rehashing painful reminders of past injustices that do nothing to move the country forward.

However, there comes a point when one must realise that if certain people are intent on starting a fight, constantly turning the other cheek can actually become counterproductive.

The time has come for us to speak the truth as it was, with the facts - no matter how uncomfortable for either side - laid bare for all to see.

With that in mind, twice a week, I’ll be addressing past issues, particularly those where I know the dominant narrative is nothing more than pure propaganda. I’ll be calling it my 'Behind the Veil' series.
