'With so many intermediaries, by the time funding reaches the ground, for the implementing local organisation who actually does the work, there's nothing there.'
BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh speaking at the 'Shifting the Power' plenary on Day 1 of the UK Global Partnerships Conference.
We are excited to announce that Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC, has been named one of the @TIME 100 Most Influential People in Philanthropy 2026.
We are honoured by this recognition. It is also a reminder for us that lasting change begins when people closest to the challenges lead solutions.
As global conversations on philanthropy evolve, voices and lessons from the Global South are continuing to shape what comes next.

Impact is often best understood when leaders take time to listen on the ground, sometimes over a simple cup of tea at a local tea stall.
Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle, Canadian High Commissioner Ajit Singh and the Executive Director of BRAC came together in the coastal city of Chattogram, southern Bangladesh, to reflect on the Strategic Partnership Arrangement - a partnership that has been integral to Bangladesh’s development journey.
BRAC’s work in Bangladesh is supported by our strategic partners the Governments of Australia and Canada, along with a range of partners.

Indigenous communities in the Barind Tract face persistent poverty. In Tanore, HC Ajit Singh met Indigenous women supported through Canada’s partnership with Australia and BRAC, building agency, solving local challenges, and strengthening sustainable livelihoods for the future.
Let the glow of the festive season inspire us to move forward towards a society built on love, dignity, and meaningful opportunities for all.
