I believe they check the PNR records and as they don't want to hold up the line they just refer you to secondary.

@tndpie and @SteveTysoe both experienced this, but otherwise had no problems.

It's always suggested you bring a letter from your employer, but if you get to the point where you need to show it to them they're already looking to deny you entry, probably because they doubt your story.

@benwhitworth1 As for variants, their importation is inevitable without a perfectly secure border. Impossible; Australia & New Zealand obvious case studies.

If said variant is a credible threat, it will then spread via community transmission very fast such that importation is again negligible.

@benwhitworth1 It's all complete BS. There are no "vaccine escape variants" at all.

With negative testing - rapid testing - case importation is statistically insignificant unless there's a *huge* discrepancy in incidence numbers between countries, and even then it's not really a "problem."

Interviews at US consulates are done with a barrier of *bulletproof glass* between the applicant and interviewer. They could require a negative test. They could do remote interviews.

There's no safety argument; this is a deliberate policy choice.

@SergeyYoung200 Meaningful increases to longevity must come from extending functional lifespan, otherwise vast societal costs are incurred. Even if net productivity increased to make it sustainable, opportunity cost still exists.

Socialized healthcare systems would become highly inequitable.

@ExistFamilies Honestly, besides the travel ban the USA hasn't done too badly on this.

Many states have banned vaccine passports, refused to reintroduce mask mandates, and emphasized the importance of returning to some form of normality.

There are a few extreme states, but they're outliers.

@Leanne68972711 @missbella_a @TUnknown156 @LunaN5975 EU accepts CDC cards so it's not a problem. These bans are against state-facilitated vaccine passport schemes. It's still possible for citizens to demonstrate their vaccine status.
