@UkrainianAna I imagine a culture of dehumanizing the enemy can increase the risk for mistreatment of prisoners, or revenge bombing of civilians. At the same time it is probably inevitable in a war like this.
@UkrainianAna It reminds me of discussions about the term "viking". In The Last Kingdom, they say "Danes... they come as vikings!". Maybe here the equivalent would be "they are sent as orcs". Still not something I would say, but it makes sense to perceive it this way.
@UkrainianAna I understand Ukrainian soldiers and even civilians using the term. But I think western media figures should avoid it. Not defending Vaush, though.
@DylanBurns1776 One could imagine that far right groups on Ukr side are more likely to do war crimes, e.g. mistreat prisoners or shell civilian houses, compared to the regular army. Also before 2022. Is this something you could confirm or deny or tell more about?
Don't know how to deal with this shit right now...
My city won't have places and corners that were not ruined or scarred by bombing soon enough. Historical center and resedential houses were attacked today, lives taken and ruined, people maimed. I became kind of numb to it all... But today I feel this suffocating heavy sadness. And anger. Because this is so unjust, so stupidly evil... Makes me sick.
OK. So things have been said about me claiming that Russians deliberately attacking our power grid exclusively in winter could and should be considered a war crime where it's not clear if it actually is a war crime. I would like to point out that it's not my "claim" ๐
It's quite literally everyone's assessment of the situation. Bombing a power station or several is definitely attacking the critical infrastructure but it's not necessarily a war crime.
Because you could be targeting it to disable military operations and such. But Russians targeted our power grid with a specific objective to freeze Ukrainians by their own admition (state media + government officials). About 50% of our power grid is gone.
They specifically did it in winter exclusively. It did not disable military operations but it did make more than 30 million people live with no heat/electricity/internet/cellphone connection etc. for days and sometimes weeks in the coldest time of the year. More hours were spent without heat and light (and water for many) then with those necessities.
You don't have to take my word for it though ๐
Dear @TeamYouTube . I currently have a paid premium account for convenience reasons. Unfortunately, I see that youtube does not respect its most hard-working creator, @DylanBurns1776 . If you don't fix this, I will cancel my premium.
@UkrainianAna I actually like prefer English over my own language (German) for this reason. In German, "teacher" or "pilot" are male words, while "nurse" is a female word. We can append a suffix to make it female. This sucks if you genuinely want to addfess all genders.
