One of the interesting side effects of having a family member who is a "peacemaker" in an abusive family is that they'll acknowledge the abuse you see, while simultaneously defending that the person "isn't that bad."
They literally can't see the forest for the trees.
You might not be fully responsible for what you believe today (e.g. parents, teachers, etc.).
But YOU ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING those BELIEFS - if they don't work in your favour.
