As someone who has experience writing something like this, it's actually very simple. Writing stories is about writing conflict. if you're writing a romance about a guy getting a girl, and you make him a hansom gigachad, well congratulations, your story is over in two chapters.

There's a balance of dipping a toe into trickier waters and then pulling back onto your comfort zone. I'm still learning that rhythm myself.

But yeah this is difficult angle no matter which way you slice it. I'd recommend getting more of a foundation with easier angles before tackling the trickiest ones.

You'll improve along the way so by the time exit your comfort zone you'll have an easier time overall. I know the idea of your skills plateauing is always scary, but sometimes jumping straight into the deep end can have even worse effects.
