For me it's not price-first, it's reliability-first. At small scale, the cost difference is noise - what matters is which model fails less on my actual tasks.
I route by task, honestly. Some work goes to whatever's cheapest and good enough; the stuff where a silent failure costs me a customer goes to whatever I trust most, price aside.
What'd make me switch more volume over? Consistency on my specific workloads - not benchmarks. Give me a model that's boringly reliable on the exact tasks I run, and I'll move.
The part of building nobody admits:
Sometimes you avoid looking at your own numbers because you're scared of what they'll say. It's easier to stay busy than to find out if the thing is actually working.
But the numbers don't get less true because you look away. Facing them is the only way anything gets better.

This is exactly it. "The discomfort of looking is shorter than the slow anxiety of not knowing" should be printed on every founder's wall.
Not knowing feels safe, but it's a low background dread that never leaves. Looking hurts for a moment, then it hands you something you can actually act on. Avoidance protects your feelings and starves your decisions.
Two weeks ago this account had 4 followers.
I almost stopped. It felt pointless, posting into the void, watching worse content win, wondering if anyone would ever care.
I didn't quit. Now past 800.
Nothing changed except I kept showing up and kept replying. The quiet part isn't the phase before it works. It's the filter that decides who's still there when it does.
