(2/3) Today, one of our Psych Associates, Niki, shares with us: Another common theme is the perception that there is a predetermined timeline for healing, a “should”. “It’s been a year, I should be better by now”.
FALSE: According to Brain Injury USA, there is no need to keep someone awake for 24 hours after a concussion. Sleep is critical for #braininjury recovery. If the person has been cleared by a professional for brain bleeds and acute trauma, restful sleep is safe.
(4/4) Susan says her strategy is to engage in a discussion around what life would be like if their rehab team wasn’t around. The goal is for the client to realize they are not alone, and facing many of these challenges independently would be a struggle.
