Tell your low-level marketers to go get a $6 coffee because you’re coming up with your own thoughts now. Be an active participant in how AI is going to see, categorize, and present you.

Monday fun fact for executives: Brand mentions across the web correlate 3x more strongly with AI visibility than backlinks. (Ahrefs, study of 75,000 brands). Takeaway: think less about backlink witchcraft and more about saying something that gets people talking.
Marketing content is the short game, i.e. push this week’s priority like Rome is burning. Executive thought leadership is deliberately building authority around a topic. It will determine how prospects, media, recruiters, etc. will see you. https://t.co/SrIh7JU6OL
Treating your thought leadership like all other marketing content gets you whacked. “It’s not personal, it’s just business” is a fun movie cliché. But business IS personal.
As you consider breaking your thought leadership out of the sameness...
Don’t take the world’s appraisal of you and make it your own. Maybe the world isn’t giving more than a cursory look. Becoming who you are ain’t for sissies.
-Peggy Noonan, The Wall Street Journal
Read this (pleeease) if your thought leadership is handled by marketing like all other content. Different game, and your rep is at stake. AI search is categorizing you...with or without you.

Blog posts? Emails? Newsletters? If you're responsible for internal communications and your team is comprised of field workers, know that there's a way to get your content consumed and retained.

Study: 85% of Americans say radio is “very trustworthy” or “trustworthy,” beating ALL other media types. 70% say podcasts are trustworthy, putting them on par with magazines and television. “This human connection is difficult to replicate in algorithm-driven environments.”
If you were a guest on a branded podcast, would you talk about how great you're doing assimilating your business into the AI Borg? Or would you have something to say about the heart of your company and how YOU are guiding it based on an obsession with serving gratified customers?
No one, even the brands who have turned me down, has ever explained to me why leaders speaking to their own people at a regular cadence via branded podcast is a bad idea. If I don't "know" you, I'll never trust you.
The ability to couch information in compelling narrative is RARE. Take your latest deck, blog post, white paper, or webinar. Now try to redo it as a story you could tell around a campfire with no screens. Can you do it?
A lot of thought leadership content uses a lot of words to spell out a situation, then never gets to a tangible answer. Assess yours for brevity, relevancy, originality, and strong answers. If it's lacking, find someone who can extract and form "power statements".
Edison: For the first time ever…more time listening to spoken-word content is spent with podcasts vs. radio. If you're still saying no to branded podcasting, you're solidly in career malpractice territory.
-You don't have to call your AI slop "thought leadership." Just call it spam.
-If you don't have a brand leader saying truly unique things, or in a unique way, don't do "thought leadership."
-Do people keep thinking about what you said a few hours later?
Takeaway: Repetition that hits the core value proposition builds brands. One-off content unmoored from any content strategy is just burning money.

They're out there and you're not. We both know what the best way to do internal comms with them is, yet so few companies are doing it.

Content demands are soaring. Resourcing for content isn't (AI can do everything by itself and magically, right?). So do yourself a favor and stand up a GTM content power plant.

This was obvious to me, but some orgs were getting excited about puking out robo-podcasts.
Edison: Listeners overwhelmingly resist AI replacing human hosts. Most said they lack emotional nuance, authenticity, and conversational chemistry.
