For fourteen years, everyone thought U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant John Chapman died in the first two minutes on top of a freezing 10,000-foot mountain in Afghanistan.
Then modern image technology unlocked the thermal camera footage recorded by a Predator drone circling high in the clouds on March 4, 2002.
When Pentagon investigators watched the enhanced screen, hardened combat generals broke down in tears. Because the video proved that after everyone else had left the mountain peak, John Chapman woke up alone in the snow and fought an entire army by himself.
That night on the peak of Takur Ghar, thirty-six-year-old Chapman, a father of two little girls from Connecticut, had charged uphill through thigh-deep snow alone to silence an enemy bunker and save his pinned-down team. Hit from a second bunker, he fell motionless. Believing he was dead, the surviving team was forced to retreat down the ridge.
Chapman was not dead.
The drone footage showed him regaining consciousness in the pitch-black snow, surrounded on three sides by enemy fighters, with nine separate wounds in his body.
In total darkness, with no comrade beside him and nobody on earth watching except a silent camera in the sky, he refused to surrender. For more than an hour, he fought from inside the bunker, killing an enemy fighter in bare-handed close combat when they tried to rush him.
Then, at dawn, Chapman heard the heavy thump of rotor blades in the mist.
An American Chinook helicopter carrying twenty-three U.S. Army Rangers was flying straight toward the peak to rescue him, right into the sights of an enemy rocket launcher.
Chapman knew that if he stayed safe inside the rock bunker, those twenty-three young Americans in the helicopter would be blown out of the sky.
So on the thermal video, investigators watched John Chapman deliberately climb out of the bunker, stand up tall in the open snow, and fire into the enemy positions to draw every machine gun on the mountain onto his own chest.
He died in the snow as the sun rose, shielding the incoming helicopter with his life.
True bushido is what a warrior does when he thinks nobody will ever know his story. The sky was watching, John. And America will remember your name forever.
@scs_real I still technically have the 74 914-but it will never move on its own again. I don't have the money or time to completely redo the frame/body.
Barack Obama was horrible in a million different ways, but he doesn’t get anywhere near the hate he deserves for destroying the used car market for an entire generation.
15-year-old cars with 150,000 miles that should be selling for $3,000 are going for $15,000. It’s abominable. Pure destruction and thievery.
@MrsCMFrancis I got eight and the oldest is 16…I still say middle school years are hardest. Although, our 2 year old boy is feral and dead set on killing himself, we once found him in the fridge…that boy.
I will now tell you of a magical place.
They sold resistors, transistors, project boxes, random tidbits of small electronic goodness.
You could buy a kit and build your own radio that could tune in the moon.
This was called “Radio Shack”
It was AWESOME
The anti-homeschool wackos’ argument that a child’s home life is by default, abusive, but that the government education institutions are paragons of virtue and safety - this one of the most pernicious propaganda pieces of the statist’s claims.
It's difficult to grasp how messed up we are as a nation sometimes. Fraud, waste, and abuse are happening at an unbelievable scale. Our enemies are literally using our tax dollars to subvert our nation.
It's a no-brainer that this needs to be fixed immediately and aggressively.
At the same time, there is a deeper, darker, harsher truth with which we must grapple as a nation:
That is, we are not a moral society. To borrow the words of Solzhenitsyn, men have forgotten God.
We continue to murder 1 million babies per year in the womb. We continue to not only allow, but embrace much of the LGBTQ agenda. We continue to be sexually perverted and licentious.
God is not honored by our lip service when we continue to flaunt his laws, and throw the weak and innocent to their doom. God hates our solemn assemblies, when we're not truly honoring him in our hearts.
And know this, if you're not following God's commands, and taking his Word seriously, you're not honoring him in your heart, no matter how you may "feel" about it.
And the truth is, God doesn't need to do anything miraculous to punish us for our wayward wickedness. The consequences are natural. An immoral people invites immoral laws, and immoral policy. Even with good policy, we lose the ability to execute and enforce policy with integrity, which makes way for more corruption, incompetence, and collapse.
Pursue good policy. Vote for the best candidates, yes.
But repent. Above all, turn to God and repent. Pray. Read the Bible. Go to church. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and might. Obey his laws.

If you think Democrats care about lowering the price of gas, just remember that on Day One of the Biden admin, two of the first things they did were cancel the Keystone XL pipeline and halt all new oil and gas leases.
From Idaho to Oregon we are finding out again and again that responsible citizens who carry can end threats effectively. Conceal carry is a right and should not be restricted
