Absolute tosh discussed in Parliament this morning over abolishing Healthwatch England. Ministers totally tone deaf on the well documented history of the NHS and DHSC diminishing patient voice. Their simple answer seems to be "we'll do it better this time, honest". They won't.
Imagine saying this as a British billionaire who migrated to the tax haven of Monaco.
Imagine using that word “colonised” in the context of people migrating to the UK.
Jesus.
"The division that's been created is absolutely disgusting. Mainly created by angry middle-aged white men who know exactly what they're doing." - Gary Neville.
So, the end of a day when a guy with just four MPs declared his stated aim to commit the UK to his vicious, extremist, authoritarian rule by scapegoating foreigners and ripping up your human rights - and was handed live mainstream airtime to do it.

@so_says_sally This implies the jaffa cake vs biscuit decision has been resolved. While a judgement was made for tax purposes, the philosophical debate remains divisive, volatile and fecund.
Bringing you our top 5 books each from 2024 with @BransonChris (bumped into @nickcave at the Bacon exhib at the @NPGLondon today - thanked him for his music but not his book!) #books#reading
Great to be at the 10yr plan national conversation launch - Kier Starmer @10DowningStreet really listened to concerns about health inequalities, self management and admin burnout in people with long-term condition since covid #KierStarmer#10yearplan 1/5
@sainsburys Hi, two items missing from my order #962659490 just delivered: 1 avocado and 4-pack of sea bass. Was planning to have the fish for dinner ☹️. Can I have a refund?
Helpful summary ⬇️ - but I'd recommend the full report if you're interested in public health and population health. It clearly takes a lot of dedicated work for LAs and ICBs to define respective roles and develop collective strategies but it's vital they do
1/6. Today we launched our @thekingsfund report on #publichealth and #populationhealth#leading together. A summary of key points follow. We make a limited no of recs for national leaders, and share examples of how things are working well in practice https://t.co/0iFvEKjm9k

@rcsloggett@alf_collins (I'm v up for getting my hands dirty if anyone wants to fund research into something no-one in govt/the NHS wants to know about, i.e. how prevention must always have counterfactual costs. I still firmly believe it's a v good and necessary approach, just not entirely magical.)
@rcsloggett@alf_collins The ROI should also include ethical good (healthier, flourishing lives) & wider economic impact (fitness to work, etc) but we do need a holistic understanding of the LT budgetary impact of prevention rather than believing in v narrow & simplistic (& fantastical) economic analyses
I am astonished there is not a single mention of action to address racism, bullying and harassment, or making the raising of concerns safer and more effective. Is there a reason for this glaring gap?
