If I Ruled the World, I would instruct the presidents of every media outlet to air this video in prime time. I would instruct every professor in every university to show it in every class. And then, I would freeze every social media account, until the owners of said accounts watched this seven minute public service announcement in its entirety. However, because I don't rule the world, and because I don't really harbor authoritarian tendencies, (I think,) I can only share the wisdom of Mr. Hudson on my personal page and encourage you to do the same. And invite him onto my podcast, at his convenience.
“I was an organizer. An agitator.
I know how this works.
When the buses start coming in, it’s paid.
When the signs are already made, it was decided in a meeting room.
The money has to get cleared first. That’s how it’s done.
I did this professionally.
I knew how to pressure companies.
I knew how to bring attention to my union—and how to bring attention to the people I was targeting.
I was good at it. I won awards for it.
My picture was on a wall in Midtown Manhattan.
When I ran rallies, cops knew me.
They knew I didn’t start trouble—and I never did.
That didn’t make me weak.
It made me smart.
Risk versus reward.
A police officer was never a reward worth the risk.
I was taught by one of the best organizers in New York City.
What I’m seeing now out on the streets?
Paid protesting. Same playbook.
They’re just doing one thing I never did.
Attacking police isn’t smart.
This isn’t theory.
This is how it’s done—
from someone who did it.”
