From 'CCC+' On Improved Operating Performance;
Outlook Stable
July 28, 2026
Rating Action Overview:
• AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc.
reported record revenue and EBITDA in the second quarter
of 2026, reflecting continued momentum in the box office. S&P Global Ratings now believes the company has a path to generate sustained positive reported free cash flows.
• Therefore, we raised our issuer credit rating on AMC to ‘B-’ from ‘CCC+’.
• At the same time, we raised our issue-level rating on its $2 billion first-lien term loan to ‘B+’
from ‘B’, Muvico LLC secured notes and 7.5% AMC secured notes to ‘B-’ from ‘CCC+’, Odeon
first-lien term loan to ‘B’ from ‘B-’, and $112 million exchangeable notes to ‘CCC’ from ‘CCC-’.
• The stable outlook reflects our view that AMC will sustain improved operating performance
over the next 12 months, generate positive reported free cash flow in 2027, and maintain
adequate liquidity.
All hail Chris Nolan. As of weekend two in theatres, The Odyssey is now up to a media-reported $286 million domestic box office gross. And $640 million at the worldwide box office.
AMC’s IMAX screens had their all-time highest ever two weekend gross for a single movie title!
On Monday (July 20), before the market opens, AMC will announce our financial results for the 2nd quarter of 2026.
Many of you will be keenly interested to learn more as to our performance so far in 2026.
This is what our AMC A-List was made for.
Look at the blockbuster movies opening soon at AMC:
June 19 Toy Story 5
June 26 Supergirl
July 1 Minions & Monsters
July 10 Moana
July 17 The Odyssey
July 31 Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Toy Story 5 opens this Friday June 19 (with Thursday June 18 advance screenings) across AMC.
Will it be the biggest grossing movie of 2026 so far?
If it crosses $75 million it will be the 6th film to do so in 2026.
Many think it will top $131.7 million, thus posting the highest opening weekend domestic gross of any film released so far in 2026.
As it turns out, for Christopher Nolan‘s much awaited The Odyssey, AMC recorded our highest first-day ticket sales for any studio-released movie title since 2022.
My apologies if you encountered a long ticketing line on the AMC web site and app yesterday.
Fortunately, we still have MILLIONS more available seats for you to catch what is sure to be a global phenomenon.
Ironically, the only first-day AMC ticket sales results since 2022 that topped The Odyssey were for our very own music-oriented projects from our own AMC Theatres Distribution, namely first-day ticket sales for the Renaissance concert film from Beyonce in 2023 and our two Taylor Swift efforts in 2023 and again in 2025.
Other than our early sales for the Beyonce and Taylor projects, The Odyssey first-day dollars in hand outpaced those of the many hundreds of studio-released movies of the past four years.
Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada spoke about the contradictions of human nature:
“Some people dream of having a swimming pool at home, while those who have one hardly ever use it. Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about their living relatives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have one often don't appreciate it. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the satiated complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always looking for a better one.”
The key to happiness is gratitude: truly seeing and appreciating what we already have, and understanding that somewhere, someone would give anything for what we take for granted.

NEW: A 20-year-old woman went blind after wearing contact lenses in the shower during a trip to the Dominican Republic.
Grace Jamison was exposed to tap water containing a microscopic parasite which got trapped under her lenses and embedded into her corneas, causing a severe infection.
She was initially misdiagnosed and given steroid drops that made it worse. Within one week, she lost all vision in both eyes.
After the correct diagnosis, she began intensive anti-parasitic treatment with eye drops every 30-60 minutes. The treatment is expected to last 6 months to a year.
She has now regained partial vision in her left eye only.
Never expose contact lenses to any water. This is brutal.
More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act.
If the House passes this bill, it will increase costs and hurt working class families for generations to come. Call your representative today and tell them to vote no on this bill.
All hail Disney as AMC keeps setting records. AMC’s highest weekend (Thursday to Sunday) for attendance, admissions revenue, food & beverage revenue, and merchandise sales of 2024 — thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine. 6+ million guests graced our AMC Theatres and ODEON Cinemas.
