In the few weeks since last general conference, I have received several letters from individuals impacted by the message that no one should sit alone. I hope the messages that have been shared with me will help you.
Heaven is not trying to keep us out. We all make mistakes, and we are blessed with a special kind of love and mercy from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that makes repentance possible.
@seanfeucht In response to your question: not me; not if your agenda is this post. I am with the teachings and example of Jesus. With the humble and courageous spirit of Old Testament prophets, she spoke it, and plead in spirit of Jesus’s announcement of his mission in Luke 4:17-21.
Dear Ma & Pa MAGA,
Remember when Donald Trump promised he’d lower your taxes and didn’t, that he would get you healthcare coverage but didn’t, that he’d lower the cost of your prescriptions, fix your roads and your bridges, end the opioid crisis, revive the coal industry, bring manufacturing back, make Covid disappear and make Mexico pay for the wall, but didn’t, and then you voted for him anyway because at least he said he said he’d stop the immigrants from taking American jobs…
Yeah, about that…
@LAGovJeffLandry@realDonaldTrump@LSU No one is silenced by this. No one is belittled. A fair comment to be thinking about the real experiences of law students. And certainly fair based on the rhetoric leading up to the election.
A new meta-analysis on the impact of goal setting on performance found:
1. Process goals had a large effect on performance
2. Performance goals had a moderate effect
3. Outcome goals had a negligible effect
You can’t say you support IVF and then consistently vote against protecting it.
IVF is a miracle to many families, including my own.
It’s sad to see this predictable result. But it speaks volumes to those who have gone through IVF.

248 years ago, the Continental Congress voted to be free and independent States…absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown”. Two days later, a Declaration of Independence was signed.
In a letter to Abigail Adams, her husband John declared, “I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure it will cost Us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the end is worth all the means. This is our day of deliverance.”
John and his fellow founders actually understood the Toil of Blood and Treasure that lay ahead. They understood the responsibility and the work…REAL WORK…it would take to establish the greatest nation in the history of the world.
He added that, “With solemn acts of devotion to God we ought to commemorate it with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of the continent to the other from this time forward forevermore ...”
I think John Adams would be proud to see our celebrations today. Indeed we have incredible parades, shows and games. We have amazing food and barbecues and you can even get a great deal on a mattress. Oh, and John, we’ve gotten so much better at blowing stuff up. I think we’ve pretty much nailed the celebration part.
But I’m less sure that Adams and Washington and Hamilton would be as proud of our country when it comes to the responsibility part…the real work of preserving our Republic. The founders understood that true patriotism wasn’t just pomp and circumstance. Keeping our Republic would take so much more sacrifice and selflessness.
Adams taught that “without the great political virtues of humility, patience, and moderation”…everyone of us “becomes a ravenous beast of prey.” James Madison and Alexander Hamilton praised the Constitution’s “spirit of moderation” in contrast to the “intolerant spirit” of “those who are ever so much persuaded of their being in the right in any controversy.”
But, it was George Washington himself that constantly warned of the dangers of division and factions. He spent a significant amount of time warning future generations—warning you and me today, 248 years later—that the only way this great nation could fall is the very toxic partisanship we are experiencing today, driven by conspiring people that “tend to render alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection.”
You see, George Washington understood better than anyone that there is nothing more un-American than hating our fellow Americans.
We live in the greatest nation in the history of the world because we are the only nation founded on an idea. A radical, powerful and uniting idea that “all men are created equal” and that we are “endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” And those unalienable rights do not come from government, they come from on high. And we the people maintain those rights and government exists only to protect them.
But with the selfishness of rights comes the selflessness of responsibility.
If we are to keep those rights and this country, it is our duty to actually get back to the work of maintaining the Republic. And that work, the real patriotism needed today, is the work of building. Building our communities, lifting our neighbors and loving and serving our fellowmen and women. Yes, even those-especially those-who disagree with us.
One of my church leaders, Russell M. Nelson put it this way: “Anger never persuades. Hostility builds no one. Contention never leads to inspired solutions.”
My fellow Americans, we have work to do. So let’s go watch a parade, grill some burgers and blow some stuff up. And then, let’s get to work restoring the bonds of affection that made us the greatest nation on earth. May God bless you.
And may God continue to bless these United States of America.

Here's the technique:
1/ @NelsonRussellM often took one of his 9 girls with him on his business trips. His wife, Dantzel, often recommended he take the daughter who was causing the most problems.
This perplexed young Russell. Wasn't this rewarding bad behavior? His wife's answer impressed him:
Collin, let me give you a different POV. When someone is not paid enough to live, they use more government services. Housing, Care, Food, etc.
I can’t tell you what the equilibrium is for a minimum wage for any given state.
When I can tell you is when companies pay less than what someone needs to live a basic life, it’s often the taxpayers that subsidize the difference
Do you really want to subsidize, with your tax dollars, any employer ?
Personally, as an employer, I would rather pay a higher wage and figure out how to be more productive and profitable to balance it out.
I literally gave raises to employees a few years ago because it was embarrassing to me that taxpayers might be subsidizing people who work for me.
It’s the same reasons I kept paying everyone during COVID and I didnt take PPP money.
The last thing I want is your tax dollars, Collin, subsidizing my employees
The other thing about increasing the minimum wage, again, IMO, everyone else faces the same rules. Their costs go up in the same manner.
